I decided August was going to be a stay at home vacation month to have fun, so I joined a 30 day storytelling experience on Facebook. This picture prompted me to create the following story.
Jesus and Colonel Sanders walked into a coffee bar. The barista who wasn't busy asked “What's up”?
“We’re rapping about divine living” Jesus replied. “What do you think is divine”? Our mocha frappuccino double double with extra chocolate and hazelnut is definitely divine.
“A drink is divine”? challenged another barista who had entered, after properly saying “DOOR”!
“You're saying that in front of Jesus? Even Harlan here, who must have gone to heaven if he's here with Jesus, wouldn't say eating his KFC was an aspect of divine living”.
“Why not”? Said Colonel Sanders it's got 37 spices you know”.
“Well”, blustered Barista #2. “Surely it's not healthy, eating animals could be wrong and most important something divine is religious!”
He looked at Jesus to support him.
Jesus smiled and looked into his eyes with such love that in that moment he felt connected to everyone and everything in the world. He could feel what it was like to be a flower, a rock, a tree, the sky, the sea,… anything, every person everywhere.
He realised everyone was precious and everything was divine. He was not separate from anything. He experienced a divine knowing that he was part of one great creation and could be a unique aspect of it AND Be it All in the same instant.
The words to John Lennon's song Imagine became reality. There was no religion, no countries, no heaven or hell. It was all an illusion.
There was only the present moment and he could choose struggle, angst and burdensome living or he could choose to live a joy filled, peaceful, easy and effortless, abundant connection to the divine in everything.
