Have you had a deep belly laugh recently? How about a chuckle? A big smile? Do you have fun regularly?
I have found when I am in a high vibration state I giggle and laugh with delight. However I have recently come to realize I’d like more fun in my life. What about you? Are you serious too much of the time?
Laughter is great for the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the Divine You.
Having fun releases feel good chemical cocktails in your body that boost your immune system and have protective effects for your heart health. A study at the University of Maryland Medical Center found that people with cardiac disease laughed 40-percent less at life situations than those without cardiac disease!
Lightening up, smiling and looking for the magic in the moment helps you relax and view the world from a different perspective. Your mood is elevated and you can look and respond to challenges differently, when you view the world with a sense of humor. By amplifying your concerns into a catastrophe and realizing its kind of funny - you can let go of your minds “what ifs”. If, for example, I’m going to be late because I’m in a traffic jam caused by an accident ahead, my mind goes to the what ifs, thinking I’ll walk into the meeting and everyone will stare at me and I’ll be embarrassed. Instead I can think of a funny outcome I can catastrophize it by thinking I’ll walk into the meeting and everyone will be staring and my skirt will fall down and I’ll be sent to the CEOs office and fired for sexual harassment. I can’t help but smile as I imagine what I’ve blown out of proportion.
Having fun implies being playful and creative instead of using the logical part of your brain. Plan five minute breaks in the morning and afternoon where you spontaneously do something so that you feel gleeful. Be active. Skip sing or dance in the bathroom. Colour outside the lines. Keep bubbles in your desk drawer and go outside at lunch to blow them. That deep breathing clears out the cobwebs too. Look at the world with the wonder of a divine child, newly discovering a stapler, ruler or something in your environment. Or pretend you are an alien or someone from the future, trying to figure out what the items are used for. Think of the young people today who see a rotary phone or cassette tape player and don’t know what it is. Come up with bizarre uses and giggle.
Take some time in the evenings or weekends to remember your dreams and visions as a child or young person. Consider what they are telling you and how you can incorporate them into some part of your life.
Do you live for the weekends, or TGIF? Consider what it is about those days that make them enjoyable and bring that aspect into everyday. Think about how kittens play, attracted by objects around them. Remember the joy and freedom you feel when you watch dolphins in the wild jumping and playing. Ask you cells to remember this feeling so it is a go to default as you go about your Divine Life.
When you have fun you attract that energy into your life. You make healthier emotional connections with people. If people see you as vulnerable, a bit eccentric or playful, they relax too. A review of
39 studies looking at 15,000 participants over the last 30 years concluded that what is really important is not finding a partner with a sense of humour, but finding a partner who shares the same sense of humour as you. "Playfulness between romantic partners is a crucial component in bonding and establishing relational security.”
How can you bring more fun and humor into your life? How can you make it delightful? Remember you are in the now in every moment and ask yourself “What’s the most fun way I can do this.”
I would really love for you to share how you have fun in the comments below or on my facebook Divine U page. Like I said, I’m looking for more ways to have fun myself.
